Drones in the Sky: Future of Plantation Management | Jiin Joo Ong | TEDxNUS

vor 2 Jahren

Drones are playing an increasingly important role in agriculture. It’s especially suited for large scale data capture and analysis applications, combing large swathes of land to profile crops and detect anomalies. How can palm oil plantation managers benefit from this eye in the sky in their hundreds of thousands of acres of trees under their care?
Plantations with drones is also important for a couple of other surprising reasons, especially in the issues of sustainable agriculture, foreign labour, pollution management and food traceability. In this talk, Jiin Joo will give an overview of these issues, how it affects consumers, and a future of agriculture in South East Asia with drones.

Chief Technology Officer at Garuda Robotics, Jiin Joo and his team spend time away from simply providing aerial data capture and mapping services, to building new technology for these plantation managers and workers.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at
